Bestiary[edit]

Not sure the Redguard bestiary page actually does list *all* the monsters in the game. The walk through mentions fighting demons, which are not listed.

Just been looking at this further, and apparently the two demons in question are both Vermai.

In addition to this there are two Daedra Guardians, of a unknown type in Vile's realm.

On a more mundane note, there are Rock spiders and Wall spiders which can be fought normally and Sharks and Giant tentacles, which can kill you. (But not be attacked back.) --Jadrax 01:20, 9 January 2007 (EDT)

Conflict[edit]

When it says its the second "adventure game", what does that make Daggerfall? Andorhal 13:33, 21 October 2007 (EDT)

Redguard was the second in a series called "The Elder Scrolls Adventures"; Daggerfall was called "Elder Scrolls II". It's Bethesda splitting hairs - not us! --RpehTCE 13:39, 21 October 2007 (EDT)

Availabilty[edit]

Does anyone know if this game is still available, let a alon available outside the U.S.? — Unsigned comment by 58.174.98.29 (talk) at 04:19 on 12 January 2008

It's no longer sold by Beth, so to get it you have to go searching on Ebay, etc. There is a demo avaliable for download, though it needs emulating software to play (and I think the full game does aswell, if you're running it on XP and newer systems), which will set you back another $20 (though it's free if you don't mind a giant twirling logo covering your screen ;) ). — Unsigned comment by 203.97.112.11 (talk) at 04:29 on 12 January 2008
I picked up a copy of the rebadged "Sold-Out" edition from an Amazon seller for £10 - in the UK, obviously. I've managed to get it running (without sound so far) on XP without spending any other money using the site's Installation Guide. Looks like there are other copies available too. –RpehTCE 04:32, 12 January 2008 (EST)
Update: Do I need any special software to run the downloadalbe version? (I don't think that Redgaurd is still sold in Australia, so the downloadable version seems to be the way to go) — Unsigned comment by 58.174.98.29 (talk) at 23:33 on 14 January 2008

What's wrong with this wiki[edit]

This wiki is so damn hard to navigate! When I type in "Redguard" and hit go it automatically assumes I am looking for the game and goes to the article about the game Redguard. What if I'm looking for the article about the race? This is not the only article that suffers from this problem. This entire wiki needs disambiguation pages. If "Redguard" does not redirect to a Redguard disambiguation page there should at least be a link to a disambiguation page or another page at the top of the article. Look at Wikipedia if you don't know what I mean. For example, let's say you go to wikipedia, and you type in "Bears" in the search bar and click Go. It goes to the article about the animal. But lets say you were not looking for information about the animal, but the Chicago Bears? Notice how there is a "for other uses" line with a link to a disambiguation page located conveniently at the top of the article? — Unsigned comment by 76.28.153.190 (talk) at 03:14 on 1 April 2008

Thanks for pointing out that problem. A redirect to this article was interfering with our site's standard navigation/search system; I have now deleted that redirect.
A major difference between our site and Wikipedia is that we are covering multiple games, organized into different namespaces. This choice was made explicitly to avoid having to create hundreds of disambiguation pages for every topic that appears in multiple games. Instead, each namespace is a distinct section of the site. Searches are set up to be game-sensitive. Therefore, if you are on an Oblivion page, "go Redguard" will take you to Oblivion:Redguard. It you are on a Morrowind page, "go Redguard" will take you to Morrowind:Redguard. We believe this is far more useful to readers than forcing readers to go through a disambiguation page every time they try to use the "go" feature. If you really want to see all of the possible pages named "Redguard", then do "search Redguard" instead of "go Redguard". This is all explained at Help:Searching.
Nevertheless, we are very aware of disambiguation pages and how to use them. As you can see at the (incomplete) list at Disambiguation Pages, the site contains quite a few disambiguation pages. Also, we are very aware of adding links to other possible uses of a word at the top of the page. For example, Morrowind:Shield or Oblivion:Blade. The only difference relative to Wikipedia is that we do not disambiguate between different namespaces. --NepheleTalk 00:54, 1 April 2008 (EDT)

This might be a long shot, but...[edit]

Has anyone ever updated or modded Redguard? The game itself, or even modded elements of Redguard into other games? I was considering what a mod for Morrowind which follows the story of Redguard would be like, and whether it's already been made? Thanks to anyone who can provide info on this.--Lowspoke 02:02, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

I don't know of any Redguard mods. It doesn't have the open, easily-modded structure of Morrowind or Oblivion, so there probably aren't any. rpeh •TCE 11:11, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

DOSBox / XGine usage in Windows 7?[edit]

Hi,

I think this wiki could use a lot more help in getting the game to simply run in current OS's. I've been able to get Arena, Daggerfall, and Battlespire to run using DOSBox. I cannot, however, get Redguard to even start up. I am running in Windows 7 and have DOSBox 0.74 installed. The Glidos option(s) don't seem to really be in the cards for Win7 users as far as I can tell, so I tried the simpler XGine install and then setting the appropriate things in DOSBox (set up sound, mount the second disc, memsize=63, the works). Yet, when I launch rg.exe in DOSBox, I still get the "SET: Out of Memory" error before the game even loads. Any help from anyone on this would be of much appreciated, and said help should probably be added to the page.

UPDATE!! Windows 7 users, I found this is great for VirtualPC with Windows 98 SE. Runs smooth (again, using XNgine). All Windows 7 users can grab VirtualPC. When you authenticate your PC as having Win7 it'll work as long as you don't also try to grab "Windows XP Mode" from the same site. Just say you have Windows 7 Ultimate so you have access to the page, but from there VirtualPC is available to Home/etc users of Win7. And now it's time for me to play! Video Deletion[edit]

Discussion moved from page up for deletion. Robin Hoodtalk 05:01, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

I did a quick search on youtube for any other walkthrough videos but all i got were the deleted ones and Skyrim Lets play ones. After a quick google search it seems that the only ones used were the now deleted ones. (Eddie The Head 08:39, 21 December 2011 (UTC))

I had watched some of them just yesterday and they worked fine. They were deleted today, it seems. 201.86.156.162 11:49, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
Does anyone know the reason for deletion or of a possibility to get the videos back? — Unsigned comment by 178.198.202.170 (talk) at 09:02 on 12 March 2012 (GMT)
If you know the video's uploader you could probably ask for them to put it back up as they may have taken it down because it did not get enough views.Skylar1146 18:18, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

FIX THIS[edit]

This game is neither the first NOR the only game in the Elder Scrolls Legend series. Battlespire is the first and came out months earlier (November 30, 1997). More information's on Wikipedia here — Unsigned comment by 142.197.87.222 (talk) on 17:31 23 November 2013

Read the Redguard page again. "Redguard is the first (and probably only) game in the spinoff series called The Elder Scrolls Adventures." Battlespire is part of Elder Scrolls Legends. --AN|L (talk) 17:39, 23 November 2013 (GMT)

Abandoned[edit]

Could it be confirmed this game is abandonware? Bethesda no longer sell it, support it, etc, so I was curious as to whether or not it could be put up on the site for download. --Resonance Gamer (talk) 23:19, 25 May 2014 (GMT)

It's abandonware for sure, but we can't host it for copyright reasons. —Legoless (talk) 00:40, 26 May 2014 (GMT)

Lead clarification needed[edit]

The lead says "Redguard is the first (and probably only) game in the spinoff series ...", and this is ambiguous, implying research doubt. This should be amended to "Redguard is the first (and only) game in the spinoff series ...", as with the lead at Battlespire:Battlespire. Also, at both articles, the line about DOSBox should change "OS X" to "macOS", the current name of the operating system. PS: It would be helpful if this wiki had a Template:Editprotected, Template:Helpme, or other template that attracted admin attention to pages other editors cannot directly edit like this one. — Darklocq  ¢ 16:24, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing that. I find that I can now edit the page. Was it temporarily protected, e.g. due to vandalism? — Darklocq  ¢ 17:44, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
The page is protected because it is classed as a "front" page of the wiki and is therefore very sensitive to vandalism. The vandalism seen on other Redguard pages was not seen here because it has been protected since Jan 2008. The only reasons you wouldn't have been able to edit would be if your account was brand new or you were not logged in. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 18:09, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

Puzzles page[edit]

Would a page detailing all the puzzle and "secrets" plus some walkthroughs be a good idea? Username1 07:10, 20 June 2017 (GMT)

Redguard has an easter eggs page now, which should include most secrets. The game's story was divided into "quests" a long time ago, and I've been working on updating those to current standards. Any puzzles you must complete to finish the quest should be on that page. —Dillonn241 (talk) 20:28, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
