Sabertooth Tiger[edit]
Sabertooth tigers are dangerous animals commonly found around the Iliac Bay. They attack with their very long incisors and front paws.[1] Nobility sometimes train them as house pets.[2]

Sabre Cat[edit]
Sabre Cats, also known as Sabertooths or Rhojiit, are large cats that primarily inhabit Skyrim, but have also been found in parts of Cyrodiil, Hammerfell, and High Rock. They are powerful and fast predators that evolved two distinctive and dangerous sharp front teeth. They are very dangerous and will attack wildlife and people without hesitation, often ignoring the former in favor of the latter. They are known to carry the disease Witbane.
According to a Khajiit story recorded by Sonia Vette, who overheard the story being told to a child, sabre cats were originally Khajiiti warriors in the Pride of Alkosh. They were called to Skyrim by Alkosh, but their devotion would earn them the ire of Lorkhaj, who would share a "roar" with Ra'Wulfharth to change the moon phases of Masser and Secunda. Ra'Wulfharth used this ability to change the Khajiit warriors into the Senche furstock, a very large quadruped form of Khajiit, and Lorkhaj "stripped from them all reason". Overtime these Rhojiit "grew small and lost their cunning altogether", resulting in the modern sabre cats that roam the land today.
Salamander[edit]
Salamanders are amphibians found in tropical regions such as Summerset, Murkmire and Southern Elsweyr. They can vary in size from very small to extremly large. The are known to possess varying forms of elemental magic.
Newts are a comparable species of amphibian.[3]
Sandcake[edit]
Sandcakes are aquatic invertebrates found commonly on Tamriel's beaches. They are sometimes used decoratively.[4]
Satyr[edit]
Satyrs are a species that inhabited the forests of Valenwood prior to the arrival of the Aldmer to the province.[5]

Scalon[edit]
Scalons (or Scalon) are hulking amphibious monsters often found near water or in the company of other wild beasts throughout the Shivering Isles. They are a type of Grummite believed to develop from an adult Baliwog, but unlike adult Grummites, Scalons show no clear signs of intelligence and are treated as pests by the denizens of the Isles. Indeed, Sheogorath himself has been known to intervene when Scalons attack a mortal settlement. They are known to congregate around Scalon statues in what could be worship, or simply intrigue.
They walk on two legs and possess sharp claws and a powerful leaping attack, as well as the ability to turn invisible at will. Scalons from Mania take on a vibrant orange color, while Demented Scalons possess a turquoise coloration. Scalons carry a horrific number of dangerous diseases which can be contracted from their bite, known variously as Scalon Fever, Scalon Blight, and Scalon Sunburn. Scalon fins are often harvested for their useful alchemical properties; by 4E 201, samples of Scalon fin could be found circulating on Tamriel as a rare alchemy ingredient.
Scamp[edit]
Scamps are one of the lesser sentient Daedra of Oblivion, who often enter into the mortal world to cause mischief and carry out errands for their Princes. They are weak, rather dull (described as semi-intelligent), and cowardly, and are easily defeated except in large numbers. For the greater Daedra, scamps are useful minions, as their nimble hands can carry and manipulate objects, and they are just tricky enough to be cunning opponents in combat. They are most commonly associated with Mehrunes Dagon, though they also serve Molag Bal, Sheogorath, and Sanguine.
Many varieties of scamps exist, including the weaker Stunted Scamps and fiery Magma Scamps of Mehrunes Dagon, the Stonefire, Mind-Shriven, Trove, and Cunning Scamps of Molag Bal, and familiars summoned by mortals. The Undaunted also trained scamps to wear packs to carry their valuables.
Scarab[edit]
Scarabs are a variety of beetle that have cultural significance in various parts of Tamriel. Scarabs are known to be found in Vvardenfell, and a giant variety has been found underground in Bangkorai. Dung beetles are species of scarab beetle that pick through refuse and collect and roll dung into balls to survive. Dung beetles are sometimes kept as pets, and can be used to clean a dinner table between courses. Assassin Beetles are a large variety of scarab beetle found in Hammerfell and other places. The smaller ancestors of assassin beetles were known to the Yokudans as Samara Scarabs.
Scarabs have significant symbolic and practical importance to the Dunmer. A scarab is the House Symbol of House Redoran and it is considered sacred by its members, their armors are often adorned with the symbol. Scarab elytra are used in the crafting of House Redoran equipment, Redoran shields appear to be fashioned from the overlapping chitin plates of a gigantic scarab.
Scarecrow Spectre[edit]
Scarecrow Spectres are scarecrows animated by a ghost. They are created by hedge wizards during the Witches Festival, a holiday that takes place on the 13th of Frostfall each year. The dark magic involved in their creation is thought to be related to the spells that transform spriggans into lurchers.[6]
It is said that if one lingers near harvested fields during the Witches Festival, a Scarecrow Spectre known as the Thicketman will come and take their head.[7]

Scorion[edit]
Scorions are large "Deadlands-touched" arachnoid[8] Daedra whose purpose seems to be collecting and transferring magical energy. They are rarely seen and were once used by the Order of the Waking Flame to collect residual torture energy for the construction of the Antecedent Cataclyst in the Dread Cellar.[9]. Scorions that get swept away during eruptions are sometimes crushed into rugged gems known as Scorion Diamonds by the intense crucible of stone and flame.[10]
Scorpion[edit]
Scorpions are small arachnids with venomous stingers that can found throughout the arid regions of Tamriel, most commonly Hammerfell.
There are several varieties of scorpion. Some species are known to grow to massive sizes. Spook Scorpions are scorpions with a spectral appearance that could be found in Shadowfen. Rihad Coffee Scorpions and Cerulean Scorpions can be kept as pets. Scorpions can even be found in the Deadlands.
Scrib[edit]
Scribs, also known as squibs or kwama scribs, are the larval form of the Kwama. They are not very aggressive, but can paralyze attackers. Pupal scribs are sometimes roasted over an open fire by Dunmer.[11] Scribs are traditionally impaled to wooden plates and eaten alive.[12]
Scuttler[edit]
The scuttler is a bipedal reptile roughly the size of a housecat. They eat insects and groundworms. Scuttlers are not related to the guar or alit, as they have completely different reproductive systems. Oddly, they are more closely related to cliff racers. They are native to Morrowind but are often taken by smugglers to be sold as pets throughout Tamriel.[13] In Morrowind, they're known for their quickness, devotion, and mildly offensive odor.[14]
Sea Cucumber[edit]
Sea Cucumbers (or simply cucumbers) are a type of bottom-dwelling aquatic invertebrate. Black Marsh Cucumbers are a type of sea cucumber that can be found in the rivers of Shadowfen. They are traditionally served up to the poor of Hissmir during the New Life Festival. Abyssal Sea Pigs can be found in Artaeum's sparkling oceans.[15]
Sea-Drake[edit]
Sea-drakes are ocean-dwelling beasts. They live in the deep waters off Lilmoth, in the Oliis Bay. Their presence makes swimming in said waters a dangerous endeavor.[16]:49:50 They are extraordinarily large. Staring at them beneath the waves from above the water, their general shape is described as being like a crocodile, but with paddles instead of legs.[16]:51 They share many similarities with the dunerippers of the Alik'r Desert.[17]
Sea Giant[edit]
Sea Giants are a species of Giant with silvery blue skin that are rarely seen on Tamriel. They're perceived as smarter and more malicious than Giants that dwell on land. Sea Giants are rare enough to be creatures of legend, and have appeared in Nord maritime tales dating back to the First Era. Little is known about their culture and behavior. They are capable of speech, and have been witnessed speaking their own language as well as common dialects such as Tamrielic. Sailors have claimed to witness Sea Giant vessels in the frozen wastes of the Sea of Ghosts. These ships are the size of islands, and are armed with jagged spears. However, these accounts are considered to be widely exaggerated. They allegedly only make landfall during the coldest winters, and never stay for long. They slaughter and pillage, then vanish in the ice and fog.
Sea Serpent[edit]
Sea Serpents are large reptilian sea monsters native to Pyandonea, capable of reaching 64 feet above the water. They are described by the Khajiit explorer Ja'dasha as among the most horrible and dangerous creatures of the sea, along with krakens and Sloads.
They are tamed and ridden (or occasionally summoned) by the Maormer for use as steeds and warbeasts to support their navy, which is only possible because of the powerful snake magic of their king, Orgnum. Maormer often use serpent iconography in their weapons, armor, banners, and most notably their totems. Maormer ships are decorated with sea serpent designs and are capable of passing through the thick kelp around Pyandonea, which serves as a well-camouflaged home for the sea serpents that are Orgnum's guards and occasional mounts. Their hide and teeth are also used by Maormer to craft their gear.
Sea Star[edit]
Sea Stars (or starfish) are aquatic invertebrates found commonly on Tamriel's beaches.[18] Not to be confused with actual fish.
Sea Urchin[edit]
Sea Urchins (or simply urchins) are spiky marine invertebrates related to sea stars that live on the ocean floor.[18][19]
Seagull[edit]
Seagulls (or simply gulls) are birds found along Tamriel's coasts. Their feathers are used in pillows and quills.[20]
Seal[edit]
Seals are sea mammals similar to Horkers, with powerful hind flippers for swimming and walking on land. They are known for their insulating blubber.[21]
Seeker[edit]
Seekers are grotesque, tentacled Daedra. They are servants of Hermaeus Mora, usually guarding tomes of forbidden knowledge, and are masters of illusion who use invisibility and decoy mirror images as distractions while they sap their target's strength, feeding off the ghosts of those seeking knowledge. Seekers have the power to banish prey with sound attacks. They are rarely seen outside the Apocrypha.
Senche-Cat[edit]
Senche-Cats, also known as Senches, are large, quadrupedal felines most often associated with Elsweyr and Valenwood, but can also be found in other provinces thanks to breeding. During the Dawn Era, senche-cats and other creatures of Nirn were a chaotic hybrid of plant and animal, before the god Y'ffre established their forms as we know them today. Their original monstrous forms can be seen when the Bosmer invoke the Wild Hunt.
Sep Adder[edit]
Sep Adders are venomous winged snakes most commonly seen with brown scales and crimson eyes. While they are commonly seen in southern Hammerfell, particularly on the Hew's Bane peninsula, they have also been witnessed in northern Elsweyr. Despite being winged, the sep adder cannot fly but can use them to glide short distances. They have also been observed to use their wings in threat displays and to shade their heads from the sun. The diet of the sep adder is varied as they have been observed to eat both insects and fish as well as small rodents, they are constantly on the hunt and are capable of pouncing on prey from a great distance. However, they are also edible and are described as being easy to skin and cook, akin to a chicken.
Sep adders are often described as having a mean temperament and short tempers, like badgers in snake-form. However, this has not stopped people from attempting to tame these reptiles as pets. Aside from the common sep adder, there are a few known subspecies; the cobalt sep adder is rarely seen in captivity but is prized among the Hammerfell nobility for its rumored ability to be able to detect poison in drinks and food.. Another variety, the silver-scaled infernal sep adder, is known to inhabit the high altitudes regions of Hammerfell. Some Brassilisk fabricants from the Clockwork City are created in the form of Sep Adders. Reef Vipers are a similarly winged species of snake.
Shade[edit]
Shades are dark, hateful, and hungry spirits that have become trapped in the Void. They have been twisted by being in contact with Namira's energy, especially that which is emitted by the Dark Heart. Namira's energy manifests as dark corruptions known as "voidstuff", which has been used by some Reachfolk witches, empowering them and turning them to Shades known as Voidmothers (also known as Void Liches), which can consume the souls of their victims. Some Reach clans may look to dark avenues to twist and abuse these dark corruptions to gain power, which when wielded, can cause great calamities.
Not to be confused with the skeletal undead Shades or the shades created by Wispmothers.

Shade (Skeletal)[edit]
Shades are black, skeletal humanoid ghosts that can be created through necromancy or conjuration. A large amount of Corrupted Shades were created in 4E 201 by a powerful Necromancer who operated out of Meridia's temple on Mount Kilkreath, said Necromancer became a Shade himself after his death.[22] Corrupted Shades could also be found in Vahlok's Tomb on Solstheim. Tortured Shades are a variant conjured by the defeat of an Ancient Deathpriest.
Not to be confused with the dark spirits that could be found trapped within the Void or the shade duplicates created by wispmothers.

Shadow[edit]
Shadows are entities created either by Shadow Magic or by the Daedric Prince Nocturnal. One of the known types of shadows is created is when a victim's shadow is ripped from their body and given sentience with the use of shadow magic. Victims of this process describe feeling a chill before their shadows are separated from them and the shadow then often turns on its former owner and may attempt to kill them or may even take their place.
Shadows are a vital part of a person's animus and the victim is severely weakened should they and their shadow be separated. Should they not reabsorb their shadow and instead destroy it, the victim will permanently lose some of their power. Some believe that without a shadow, a person begins to lose touch with themselves, as thoughts beyond the basic facts of life dissipate until the victim is nothing but a thrall.

Shadow Atronach[edit]
Shadow Atronachs are a type of Elemental Daedra that, like other Atronach varieties, can be summoned by a conjurer into various shapes. Those bound in the form of a senche-cat are known to make for quick and quiet mounts.
Shalk[edit]
Shalks are large, occasionally aggressive beetles which attack by spitting fire. They also bite attackers with their sharp mandibles, and can pack a bit more power into the maneuver by producing flames as they bite. Despite the danger, they are herded by the Dunmer of Deshaan for their prized meat, resin, and carapaces. They are native to mainland Morrowind near the base of Ash Mountain, as well as Vvardenfell. They tend to congregate near lava. Shalks can also be found in the Deadlands.

Shambles[edit]
Shambles are undead skeletal abominations brought to the Shivering Isles by Sheogorath. They appear to be some sort of reanimated construct made of bone and lashed together with wire or bits of cloth, often haphazardly. Shambles only seek to destroy life. They possess powerful frost magic and detonate a magical ice bomb upon being destroyed. They can often be found in the company of other undead in various dungeons across the Isles.
Sheep[edit]
Sheep are domestic livestock found on farms and sheepfolds. They are very docile and produce wool. Male sheep are called rams, and have horns. People who farm sheep are called shepherds. Sheep are easy prey for bears and other predators. Occasionally, shepherds need to take precautions to protect their flock. Shepherds are known for making cheese out of sheep's milk. Sheep cheese is described as having a sharp, startling odor. They can also be raised for mutton.
Their wool can be used to make a variety of products, including blankets, carpets, flags, and clothes. Wool is an insulator, making it an excellent material for products that allow citizens to handle hot food and utensils. It is also soft, making it excellent for filling soft pillows. The Bosmer use wool in their clothing, as this is in compliance with the Green Pact. Harpy down can be spun with fine wool to make a sturdy material for mages' robes.
Shellbug[edit]
Shellbugs are rare, giant arthropods found underground in the Forgotten Vale of Skyrim. They are bred by the Falmer for their hard coatings.[23]:85
Shellbug chitin is very hard, making it ideal for use in crafting armor. Harvesting the chitin requires the use of a pickaxe, with repeated mining of the shell causing its death.
Shrew[edit]
Shrews are small rodents. The skulls of giant shrews have been used in adornment.[24] The word shrew is used as an insult for women.[25]
Shrimp[edit]
Shrimp are a type of crustacean, somewhat similar in appearance to crayfish. Swamp Shrimp can be found in Black Marsh. Dreugh Shrimp can be found in Stormhaven, and a variety known as Morrowind Dreugh Shrimp can found in the Telvanni Peninsula. Moon-Sugar Shrimp can be found in the rivers of Anequina.[15] Orchid Shrimp could be found in the waters around Lilmoth and the sump of Umbriel, they had buttery-tasting meat.
Shroom Beetle[edit]
Shroom beetles (sometimes called shroom shalks) are large, fungus-encrusted beetles that can be found on the island of Vvardenfell, as well as in Murkmire and Blackreach. Various varieties exist and among them are what seems to be the most common type of shroom beetle, the Ruby Shroom Shalk, a red shroom beetle and a popular house pet on the Telvanni Coast.[26] The Blue-Cap Shroom Shalk, a blue shroom beetle and it is said to bring calm and serenity to the Dunmeri home.[27] The Gold-Cap Shroom Shalk, a yellow shroom beetle and preferred by bankers for symbolic reasons.[28] Some historians theorize that Shroom Beetles may have originated from Black Marsh as a result of the Dark Elves raiding Black Marsh for thousands of years in an effort to bring back things they deemed valuable, such as slave labor, livestock, and critters.[29]

Siege Crawler[edit]
Siege Crawlers (or Siege Walkers)[30] are enormous, Daedric constructs capable of overtaking or leveling entire cities.[31][32] In 3E 433 one took part in the destruction of the city of Kvatch, it was later going to be unleashed through a Great Oblivion Gate outside of the city of Bruma, but the gate was closed by the Hero of Kvatch.[33] Inferniums were the living inspiration for the incredible Crawlers.[30]
Silt Strider[edit]
Silt Striders are giant arthropods, which can be up to 60 feet tall. They are used as a means of transport in Vvardenfell and in the Telvanni Peninsula, they are controlled by manipulating exposed organs and tissues with special hooks. Silt Striders are a resilient species whose tough carapace helps them survive the adverse environment of the island. Silt Striders survived the Ash Blight that exterminated many of Vvardenfell's native creatures, such as the Cliff Strider. However, their numbers would eventually dwindle due to the coming of the Red Year, when the eruption of the Red Mountain killed most of them and destroyed their native habitat. A small population of the creatures was imported to Solstheim.
Skaafin[edit]
Skaafin are a race of Daedra found in the Fields of Regret that serve Clavicus Vile. In appearance, they have yellow skin, red eyes, long black horns on their head, with blonde, brown, or bald haircuts. Physiologically, they resemble Altmer and Dunmer, having pointed ears and similar facial structure, though they come in varying sizes between three to six feet tall. The Skaafin appear to have some form of a caste system; the taller Skaafin have more sophisticated weapons and stronger armor, often serving as leaders. Skaafin smaller in stature are more feral, having a primitive vocabulary and fight using little more than their hands and magic.
When manifesting on Tamriel, Skaafin are known to corporealize rapidly out of Chaotic Creatia, sprouting from the ground in orange-colored goo. Skaafin can use a variety of spells, such as projectile flares, and masquers can create "Masques", spectral clones that explode to attack their target. They are known to communicate using mirrors, showing what is on the other side of a different mirror instead of a reflection. As shapeshifters, Clavicus Vile and Barbas are known to take the form of Skaafin outside of their domain.
Skavenger[edit]
Skavengers are small rodents, larger than the smaller varieties of rats, but smaller than the average skeever.[34] Cats can be kept around to cull them.[35] They are a common sight in Craglorn, Summerset, Elsweyr and some parts of Vvardenfell.
Skeevaton[edit]
Skeevatons are fabricant creatures that, despite their name, resemble small rats rather than skeevers. They can be found all across the Clockwork City and inside the Brass Fortress. They were created for the intention of probing tiny, inaccessible area of the Clockwork City. To this end, they contain a sensory tool that sends out pulses of detection magic to survey objects of interest and search within specific parameters. At some point, skeevatons were over-produced, and the denizens of the Brass Fortress had a skeevaton infestation on their hands. The series of events that followed the infestation was a mess that ended in many fabricants becoming scrap. Wind-up Bears were created to destroy the Motorized Tigers that were produced to stop the Clockwork Hounds, which were fabricated to stop the Clockwork Cats that were created to stop the mass-produced skeevatons. The skeevaton, resembling a copper mouse, lacks legs and moves using a rotating ball housed within its center. Legend has it that its inventor designed the skeevaton to clandestinely observe fellow scholars.
Skeever[edit]
The Skeever is a large rat-like creature that is commonly found in Skyrim, but can be found all throughout Tamriel. Unlike the common rat, the skeever is more feral and are prone to carry more diseases, such as Ataxia. But while they are known as pests, the skeever is actually one of the largest-known food sources for predatory animals in the entire continent. It is a popular prey for larger creatures but it is very common to find cooked skeever in a campfire. The skeever's tail is a common alchemical recipe for poisons, all the while, a charred skeever's hide provides all sorts of solutions for a potion, such as the ability to cure diseases. The skeever is the namesake of the Skeevera order, a classification for rodents in Tamriel. Other known members of this category include the common rat and the rabbit.

Skein Invertebrate[edit]
Skein invertebrates are daedric invertebrates that inhabit the Spiral Skein. They were created by the Daedric Prince Mephala as "improved" versions of Tamrielic invertebrates. Uncommonly for Daedric creatures, they are capable of conventional reproduction.
Skein Spiders are imitations of Nirn's spiders. They are the most common denizen of the Spiral Skein and can be fiercely loyal pets, often being summoned by Spiderkith. Bookbinder Spiders found in Apocrypha share a similar appearance. Skein Beetles (also known as Skein Shalks) are imitations of Nirn's beetles. They are said to use their pointed proboscis to drain a victim of their blood. Skein Scorpions are imitations of Nirn's giant scorpions. They are the preferred companion of Deathweavers, the Knights of the Spider Cult. Skein Wasps are imitations of Nirn's giant wasps. They are deemed to be some of the finest of Mephala's creations, in terms of the fear they instill.
Skeleton[edit]
Skeletons are a form of undead consisting of the reanimated bones of the dead. They're often found protecting the dungeons, forts and ruins of Tamriel. Many varieties of animated skeletons exist, some stronger than others. Skeletons have a certain resistance to edged weapons and frost spells. Though the skeletons of humans and elves are generally the same, Orcs have different skulls due to the tusks on their lower jaw, and beast races such as Argonians and Khajiit have different skulls overall.
Skink[edit]
Skinks are a type of lizard primarily found in Hammerfell that are commonly kept as pets. Copper-tongued skinks are a species of skink known for their incredibly robust constitution. They can happily eat most poisonous foods without being any worse for wear. These lizards can be specially trained to sniff out and eat anything poisonous. Though they are native to Hammerfell, their abilities make them useful for traveling through Murkmire.[36][37] Three-toed skinks are a species used in lizard racing.[38]
Skinned Hound[edit]
Skinned hounds are swift, agile zombified dogs stripped of flesh and fur and roughly sewn together.[39] They are immune to poison.[40] They are only encountered in the Shivering Isles, where they are sometimes kept as pets.

Skitteris[edit]
Skitterises are small centipede-like Daedric creatures native to the Deadlands and Apocrypha. They heavily resemble Inferniums, but are much smaller in size.
Skylamp[edit]
Skylamps are flying creatures native to Morrowind, described as big gas bags with spears for feet. Skylamps can be seen flying alongside Red Mountain. They are said to have preyed on dragons, running them out of Vvardenfell by overwhelming their territory in numbers, despite initially having been their prey. Though some claim it was the cliff racers who drove out the dragons instead.

Slarjei[edit]
Slarjei are animals used as mounts that are found in north and central Elsweyr. They are said to be well suited for riding in the desert.[16]:149
Slug[edit]
Slugs are slimy gastropods that are common in Black Marsh, where many are used for food. Some special types of slugs, such as the "jassa red", produce acidic mucous. These are used by Argonian weaponsmiths in an art known as "slug shaping".[41] Sea slugs are an aquatic variation of slug. Slugs are associated with Namira as they often inspire revulsion in mortals.[42] The fossilized remains of giant slugs have been found in Apocrypha.[43]
Sloads are a race of beastfolk that are sometimes referred to as slug-folk.
Snail[edit]
Snails are slimy gastropods that inhabit shells. Snails are sometimes used in food and drink. Some Argonian chefs cook with snail slime. Cuisiniers from Shimmerene use long and curved snail hooks to open snails from their shells. Snail shells are sometimes used as currency by Argonians.
Brown Hat Snails are found in the rivers of the Telvanni Peninsula.[15] Conches are a type of sea snail found in the Abecean Sea. Garlic snails are seen as garden pests in Vvardenfell.
Snake[edit]
Snakes are variety of limbless reptile, of which many species are venomous. Standard snakes are often seen slithering in grass. Snake charmers keep them as pets, training them to dance to their music.
They can be hunted for their meat. Pukta snake covered in honey and then roasted is a simple Argonian dish.[44] River-boas are a species that live in Murkmire and mesmerize their prey. Willow vipers are excellent at remaining hidden, and are best left alone.[45]

Snow Bear[edit]
Snow bears are white bears with an icy bite, often found on the island of Solstheim as well as in the high mountains and icy plains of Skyrim. They are sometimes used as mounts.

Snow Fox[edit]
Snow foxes are a small, white, furred variety of Fox that can be encountered in the colder regions of Skyrim. Rabbits are one of their favorite prey. Some are kept as pets by Skyrim's inhabitants Their pelts are often sold by hunters and are considered more valuable than those of regular foxes.
Snow Wolf[edit]
Snow wolves are a rare, powerful type of wolf which freezes its prey with ice magic. The Nords of Solstheim can use their pelts to create frost resistant armor.

Soulrazer Knight[edit]
Soulrazer Knights are Golem-like entities resembling knightly suits of armor which are animated by necromantic energies. They are an enigma, with people speculating as to who created them. For their nature, theories exist on them being manifestations of a being's instincts, with the willpower being what keeps them moving. On origins, one possibility is that they were created by druids as they are often seen protecting sacred sites, though others believe at minimum a mage was involved.
Lord Leobert Oris, knight commander of the Death's Valor Knightly Order, transformed himself into a Soulrazer Knight after abandoning his knightly creed and flaying himself of all his flesh. His spirit was placed into a suit of armor, and his ritual also condemned all within the Order's keep to undeath.
The Sable Knight was one of the first Soulrazer Knights conjured by a necromancer to aid in battle. After the conjurer's death, it roamed around High Isle and spread its necromantic energies, reanimating those it has slain.
Soulrazer mounts also exist, including those shaped like bears, guars, senches, steeds, and wolves.
Soul Shriven[edit]
Soul Shriven (or Soul-Shriven) are the vestiges of individuals who have their souls stolen by a Daedric power.
Daedric rituals sometimes drain a mortal's soul from their body. When this happens, the body is left naught but a shriveled husk, which is referred to as soul shriven.
Soul-spinner[edit]
Soul-spinners are creatures of Umbriel, responsible for harvesting souls. They would catch the souls of those who died beneath the floating city in their lines. Then their larva flew down to the prey and stole the soulless bodies, controlling them as a strange form of undead, dubbed "wormies".
The larvae are moth-like and roughly as big as a person, with a round black head that only contained a needle. They have six legs, each ending in a similar needle. When they flew down to Nirn, they became ethereal, as creatures of Umbriel has trouble maintaining their form away from the realm.
Spawn Mother[edit]
Spawn Mothers are a type of Grummite[46] of which very little is known. They possess four limbs and rows of colorful dorsal fins along their back. Spawn Mothers are truly gigantic creatures, towering high above even a Scalon. They are amphibious but appear to spend a great deal of time beneath the surface of the water, resulting in the growth of seaweed and plate corals on their body. When a Spawn Mother emerges onto dry land, it results in a feeding frenzy from seabirds.[47]
Spectral Warhound[edit]
Spectral Warhounds are aggressive, ghostly dogs that can only be found deep in the sprawling Nordic ruin of Labyrinthian. They, as well as spectral wolves, can typically be found accompanying similarly transparent Draugr.

Sphinx[edit]
The Sphinx is a mythical creature that has been associated with the province of Elsweyr. The nature of these creatures is unknown, as is the time period they come from. There have been two known sphinxes in history, one of which was the Sphinx of Gazia, Agamanus, who has a temple made in their honor. The other was the Sphinx of Canus, Igon.
Spider[edit]
Spiders are multi-legged arachnids that come in a myriad of sizes. Giant spiders are dangerous foes, being incredibly aggressive carnivores. They move very quickly and deal damage with their claws and fangs. Through their abdomen, spiders are able to excrete a sticky, thin substance called spider silk. With it, spiders perfect their dwellings, sealing unwanted exits/entrances and constructing a web which they can use to quickly transverse to any space within their abode. They are known to encase their victims in silken cocoons and sometimes paralyze them so that they can feed on them later.
Spiders have associations with the Daedric Prince Mephala, the god Shagrath, and her High Priestess, Selene, who some hypothesize could be connected to Mephala.

Spider Daedra[edit]
Spider Daedra (also called Perthan)[nb 1] are semi-intelligent Daedra who appear as giant spiders with armored carapaces and humanoid torsos. They are associated with Mephala, though they can be seen serving other Princes, such as Molag Bal. Other Daedra such as Aureals may summon them to fight. Spider Daedra are capable of speech, and some are willing to engage in relatively peaceable conversation with mortals.
Spiderlings are smaller versions of the Spider Daedra.
Spiderkith[edit]
Spiderkith are intelligent humanoid Daedra that serve Mephala. They have webbed skin that appears almost desiccated. Their veins glow dull red beneath their skin. Their skin can range in color from navy to red. Red-skinned spiderkith have glowing red eyes, while darker spiderkith have dull, empty grey eyes. Few known spiderkith have skin that is black like charcoal. Some spiderkith have hair white and grey in color, but many do not.
Spriggan[edit]
Spriggans, often called Nature's Guardians, are nature spirits that typically take the form of tree-like female humanoids. They possess moderate intelligence, but despite being revered they are usually hostile towards travelers. Spriggans have their own unique language, which can be learned by scholars and used to calm the creatures. They are usually found protecting secluded glades and groves all over Tamriel, often blending in with the plant life and catching trespassers unaware. Spriggans attack with their long, sharp fingers as well as with their teeth, and have the ability to poison enemies. They have incredible regenerative abilities, resulting in adventurers often having to defeat them several times before they remain dead. If threatened, they can call nearby woodland animals to aid them in battle, and some even have the ability to magically summon black bears.

Springbok[edit]
Springboks are a passive species of antelope that can be found bounding all across Summerset.
Sprite[edit]
Sprites are fay creatures that appear as floating orbs of light.[48][49] Certain curses are capable of transforming people into sprites.[50]
Squid[edit]
Squid are aquatic, beaked cephalopods that produce ink, which is used for writing and dyework. Squids are somewhat common in Leyawiin cuisine. Giant squids are a large variety of squid.[51] Black Marsh-squids are kept alive in crystal water bowls and are used as "live inkwells".[52] Thrassian squids are an elusive species, prized for their midnight-black ink, which is quite expensive.[53]

Squirrel[edit]
Squirrels are harmless tree-dwelling rodents found in forests throughout Tamriel. The preserved paw of rare red squirrels is considered to be a good luck charm by many Khajiit.[54] They are sometimes hunted for their meat.[55] The Bosmer make jagga tarts using fermented pigs' milk and squirrel preserves.[56]
Steam Constructor[edit]
Steam Constructors are constructs whose name implies that it may have been used in aiding Dwemer construction projects, though their exact purpose is unknown. Their appearance is describable as a mashup of various automaton parts, including the legs of a giant Dwarven spider, the upper body of a Dwarven sphere, and various other Dwarven parts mixed in.
Stoat[edit]
Stoats are mammals native to Valenwood. "May your bow-hand be bitten by a rabid stoat" is a Bosmer curse.[57]
Stone Atronach[edit]
Stone Atronachs are a type of Elemental Daedra consisting of four legs and a central body with one eye, all made out of stone. Pelladil Direnni of Clan Direnni summoned an army of Stone Atronachs to build the Blackrose Prison. Stone Atronachs can seemingly be summoned from a variety of sources, including crumbling ruins.[58]
Stone Golem[edit]
Stone Golems are moderately strong golems made out of stone. They are used by cultures throughout Tamriel. The Direnni create stone Golems in their image to guard their sacred sites.[59]

Stone Husk[edit]
Stone Husks are golem-like vessels that were created by Verandis Ravenwatch as vessels for resurrection. The Gray Host took these designs and improved upon them. When used in conjunction with a Harrowstorm-imbued Gray Requilary, they can free members of the Gray Host from Coldharbour. They can also function independently when activated, which is signified by a blue glow from within. Life Magic is the arcane study involved in the creation of Stone Husks, used to draw the life energy of deceased members into the inanimate vessels.[60][61] Whether or not they were sentient was considered unclear.[62]
Storm Atronach[edit]
Storm Atronachs (also called Thundernachs) are Elemental Daedra native to Levinace. Seemingly made entirely of lightning and rocky debris, they can be found unbound in the wild or can be conjured by those with magical aptitude to serve as guards, laborers, or otherwise obey their conjurers. Summoning of storm Atronachs is usually performed through Koron's Peremptory Summons, a spell which usually summons storm Atronachs in their conventional forms but which can be altered by conjurers to alter the minutiae of the summons (such as plane to summon from, daedra to summon, and form in which the daedra can be conjured). They are conventionally summoned and found in the form of bulky humanoids; however they do appear in other forms. Their summoning was first perfected by the Direnni, especially Corvus Direnni, who discovered that they could be bound into different forms by their conjurers.
They are a source of Void Salts, an alchemical ingredient which has varied utility. Storm Atronachs are found in many Daedric Realms, including those of prominent princes and minor planes. While possessing some intelligence, storm Atronachs are largely an unorganized and chaotic group, with individuals being largely indistinguishable from one another.
Stormhold Overseer[edit]
Stormhold Overseers were individuals that oversaw the city of Stormhold's prison that were corrupted, mutated, and driven mad by Warden Quintus Varus' use of the Storm Crystal.[63] These deformed guards had pointy ears and red eyes, which were sought after by certain prisoners.[64][65] They may have had somewhat reptillian traits, such as scales and stub tails.[UOL 1] Some of them wore horned helmets or boots,[66] and they typically wielded axes, spiked clubs, or daggers.[67]
The surviving Overseers and other afflicted ones were restored to normal when the prisoner known as the Master Tunnel Rat defeated the greatly mutated Varus and used the crystal's power to reverse its effects.[63]
Swamp Jelly[edit]
Swamp Jellies are floating creatures with elastic, gelatinous bodies that are native to Black Marsh. They are described as having a disquieting resemblance to aquatic jellyfish that natural philosophers have no adequate explanation for. They tend to live solitary lives from other swamp jelly, coming only together for spawn, but are social animals. They are extremely docile in nature and make excellent travel companions for the marsh. Their diet consists of bugs.
Similar creatures to swamp jellies are found in Skyrim,[68][69] Elsweyr,[70] and even Apocrypha.[71]
Swamp Leviathan[edit]
Swamp leviathans are massive reptilian creatures found in Black Marsh. They are described as a mountain of spines, with nine-foot-long claws and a jaw that juts out, exposing their tusks. The rats of Black Marsh are known to prey upon them, overwhelming them by the hundreds and eating the massive creatures inside out.[72] Swamp leviathans were sometimes slain by the Nagas of the Dead-Water Tribe as a rite of passage.[73] Skeletal remains believed to have belonged to swamp leviathans could be found in Deepmire.[73]
Swan[edit]
Swans are large waterfowl known for their graceful appearance, long necks, and distinctive plumage.
Swans are prominent in various Tamrielic cultures. During the Interregnum, kites shaped like swans in flight were a common sight throughout Tamriel.
