Upkeep in Battlespire section.[edit]
Um, I think the Battlespire pages really need a lot more attention then they are getting, just because it wasn't popular as Daggerfall doesn't mean it shouldn't be kept up to date! — Unsigned comment by Magnus (talk • contribs) on 30 May 2006
Running Battlespire on Windows XP[edit]
I have been attempting to get all the Elder Scrolls games to run efficiently on my Windows XP machine with no special hardware, and thanks mainly to DOSbox have been rather successful, but Battlespire continues to taunt me. The autorun works normally thru WinXP when I insert the CD, it appears to install quickly and correctly, but upon exiting the installer, the autorun window still has "Play Battlespire" greyed out, and when running the batch file to launch the game thru DOSbox, I get a "Unable to install or detect VBE 2.0" message. I attempted to run the batch file with VDMsound also and got a somewhat different error referring to SVGA. I have tried both installation modes ("Bypass" the internal video drivers, and "Normal"). Supposedly DOSbox provides built-in VESA/SVGA VBE 2.0 support, but try telling that to Battlespire. If anybody out there can solve this mystery I will be very grateful. 65.24.75.149 20:24, 18 April 2008 (EDT)Kyle

Redesign[edit]
I'm going to start revamping these pages over the next few weeks. Since I seem to be one of only about three people ever to have played the game I'm not going to start a full Project for it; instead I'm going to outline ideas on here. Since there are only 100 pages in the Battlespire namespace and 16 of those are Author subpages, this shouldn't be too big a deal but I thought I ought to mention it in case either of the other two players want to chip in ;). Currently I'm still playing the game but the plan so far is:
- Character Generation
- Outline the pros and cons of each race, class, and starting option.
- Spells
- New section to describe the spells available in the game.
- Items
- Describe the items and the materials from which they can be made.
- Magic Items
- Currently on the tips page, which isn't the best place for it. Describe the enchantments that items can have.
- Bestiary
- Revamp to be somewhat more like the later games rather than a big ol' table. Remove first person text. The images are rather small - replace with larger images uploaded to the wiki rather than taken from the old site.
- Walkthrough
- Currently written from a very peculiar perspective. Rewrite to be more like the "omniscient eye" of later games. Look at expanding the maps to include monster locations.
- Books
- Include locations. Weights? (All weigh 0.5lbs so maybe not important).
That's all I have for now. If anybody else has other ideas, post 'em here. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 04:57, 20 August 2008 (EDT)
- A few more:
- Spells and spell-making
- What the various magic effects to and how to use 'em.
- Sigils
- What effect the sigil amulets have when you use them
- Maps
- Recreate the maps with resampling to get them to a usable size - too much squinting at the moment.

- My game works fine, I'm on level 6 right now but I have a save file for the beginning of every level. Is there anything in particular I can help with? :) SwedishBerzerker at youtube.com 15:29, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

- Alright, I guess I could take note whenever I find a book or "character who helps or hinders" and do some of that. I thought the sigils all did the same thing? I'll try the ones I find from now on and see. SwedishBerzerker at youtube.com 10:42, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

- I added the information template for the other games for this book: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Battlespire:Chimere%27s_Journal How do I get rid of the "See Also: Lore Version" row? And is there any way you could add an "Author" cell as well? SwedishBerzerker at youtube.com 11:16, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

- Ah nevermind, for some reason I thought the other games had author cells. I'll do it for the ones I come across and those I remember. SwedishBerzerker at youtube.com 15:12, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

- Also, has the map "thing" been done yet? Could you perhaps make a check mark or something to indicate which things that have been done? SwedishBerzerker at youtube.com 17:47, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

(←) One more thing, I just noticed that perhaps the books shouldn't have the previous/next cells since they are only referring to different parts of a SERIES of books. In Battlespire, this would only apply to the "Showing Due Custody"-books etc., not to single books or letters. Correct? SwedishBerzerker at youtube.com 14:30, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yep, prev/next are really just intended for series, such as the Codex Arcana volumes. I hadn't said anything, though, because I wasn't entirely sure whether or not there was some larger connection between the books in Battlespire. Thanks for all your work on this! --NepheleTalk 14:45, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

- Alright! No problem, I appreciate the work you people did (especially the two of you I think) on the other games that helped me a lot, for free. Especially the maps for Oblivion and so on. So when I've got nothing else to do, why not contribute? I'm going to play Redguard and try to make it through all the Travels/Shadowkey/Mobile etc. games before Skyrim so I'll do what I can! :) SwedishBerzerker at youtube.com 08:06, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

- I saw your (Nephele) new way of adding weight to non-retrievable items, nice! :) I replayed all levels quickly since I'm making a video about Battlespire (it's like a "Let's play" of the last level but with a synopsis of the other ones first) and inevitably came across some of the books, so I took note. I also found that all sigils have the exact same properties - they all make you ethereal for 9-12 seconds. Here's the results in seconds (three observations for each sigil except Tayem): Iya: 11 / 10:50 / 10; Cess: 10 / 12 / 11; Tayem: 10:50 / 10:20. Those are all found on Level 6 I think but the sigils on former levels are the same. I tried two Doht sigils on the first level and they lasted for about ten seconds as well. Besides, the amount of time they last is in part dependent on what computer you have or how many cycles your virtual processor is running at (if using Dosbox). So basically, I don't think there's a need for a sigils page. Maybe just put their general purpose (making one ethereal for ten seconds) in the hints/tips section or something. - Sorry about the many replies, but I just wanted to propose perhaps making the price-cell display "N/A" (like I did on the Vatasha letters) rather than "0"? SwedishBerzerker at youtube.com 22:29, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
Wrong title[edit]
The boxart says "An Elder Scrolls Legend", not "The Elder Scrolls Legend". 76.252.2.218 22:12, 12 September 2008 (EDT)

Setting[edit]
In what year an what era does daggerfall takes place?--Max Welrod 02:33, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
- I've never played Daggerfall, but I'm under the impression it's 3E417. --Darth NANAME 03:29, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
- That's the year of the Warp of the West. The date doesn't seem to be specified anywhere. It's not in the game's manual, and it isn't in any of the books. –rpeh•T•C•E• 11:12, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, there's a rough estimate in The Doors of Oblivion, where it says that "the [Battlespire] was shattered some years ago in Jagar Tharn's time", which would place the events of Battlespire around 380-399. –rpeh•T•C•E• 08:55, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Added link to Video Walkthrough[edit]
After Redguard I thought it was time to do a Battlespire video playthrough. This is still very much in progress though! Added a link to the playlist in the video section.

Multiplayer[edit]
"It is the only Elder Scrolls game with a multiplayer option." - This is false, Shadowkey or one of the other mobile TES games has multiplayer through bluetooth or something like that. 96.42.33.38 05:29, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
[1] "Because the Elder Scrolls games have always been single-player, one of Shadowkey's most intriguing features is its Bluetooth party play. Two can play cooperatively to complete missions." 96.42.33.38 05:32, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
NPCs[edit]
Inspired by this edit, I wanted to check Battlespire, as a whole, for any additional names of other Daedra, but unfortunately didn't find any list of named Daedra in Battlespire. So my question is: Why don't NPC articles exist in this namespace? From what I've found searching on the internet, there are a lot of NPCs in Battlespire, both hostile and friendly. -- kertaw48 21:27, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
- That was actually among rpeh's list of things to do in this namespace. Thing is, not a lot of people play this game. I played it a couple of months ago and contributed a bit but never got around to this particular task. SwedishBerzerker at youtube.com 12:35, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Running Batlespire on windows 7 with dosbox 0.74[edit]
ive gotten the game to work and run fine on my 64bit OS, and using your guides to the dosbox config and everything i have gotten everything pretty much running how i wish it. But for some reason the game will not allow a change of its resolution with the output set at opengl (only one it will allow a change is ddraw, but i get lighting messups and slower gameplay) im trying to get 1024x768 resolution because its hard to see with a 640x480 tiny screen when i have dosbox in full screen. ive followed the instructions for the options i should set dosbox to, and i have applied the patch. could my issue be because i altered the batch file:
"set causeway=MAXMEM:63;PRE:40;NAME:spire.swp" I edited that line so the maximum memory would be 63 and prefetched 40 (i think prefetch is at default tho...)
Can anyone Help me? --Chizmad-- May 28, 2012 5:54 PM
