Online:Patch/2.4.1
Released on May 02 2016.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited v2.4.1 is our first incremental patch on the PTS that addresses a number of issues in Dark Brotherhood and Poison-Making, in addition to some fixes in the base game patch for some abilities, improvements to item sets, and more. We've also updated the existing character templates to give you even more options.
The size of this patch is approximately 500MB. Thanks to everyone for your feedback and bug reports so far! We've been reading your forum threads and posts, and look forward to seeing what you think of this latest patch.

Quick Cast Ground Abilities[edit]
Added a new interface option to change the way ground targeted spells are cast.
- This option can be found under Settings > Gameplay > Quick Cast Ground Abilities
- Changing this to "On" means that all ground targeted abilities will cast immediately in the location of your mouse cursor.
- Changing this to "Off" means that all ground targeted abilities will require you to click the mouse to select where the ability is cast.
- This feature defaults to "Automatic" which preserves the current in-game functionality for ground targeted abilities (Ultimates cast instantly at your cursor, and normal abilities require a mouse click).
- Note: This feature was implemented and available in v2.4.0, but we unintentionally missed the patch note for it.
Template Updates[edit]
We've updated the Dark Brotherhood character templates to have the maximum possible Provisioning rank! In addition, we've also updated the contents of the Ultimate Crafter's Crate, found in the inventories of characters made with templates on the PTS. They now include:
- Donolon's Portable Pantry, which contains large amounts of every known Ingredient, including Bervez Juice, Frost Mirriam, and Perfect Roe.
- Several of Chef Donolon's recipe books, which collectively contain every known Tamrielic recipe.
Known Issues[edit]
Combat & Gameplay[edit]
Dark Brotherhood
- Currently, Unmarked Sacks provided by the Shadowy Supplier are empty. Poisons, potions and equipment are still provided as intended.
Crafting & Economy[edit]
Poison-Making
- Poison effects are intended to become weaker (diluted) as the number of effects on the potion increases. This behavior is not yet working as intended, so potions with multiple effects are currently much stronger than they should be.
- Several poisons currently last longer than intended.
- Gradual Health Drain Poisons are not yet functional, and will be available in a future PTS patch.
Exploration & Itemization[edit]
Item Sets
- Pelinal's Aptitude: This item set has been temporary disabled to prevent a known game crash. It will be re-enabled and fixed in a future PTS patch.
Dark Brotherhood Fixes & Improvements[edit]
Audio[edit]
General
- Fixed a number of issues where the voiceover and text would not match.
- Reduced the number of instances where NPCs would talk over one another.
- Audio issues will no longer occur after using the Blade of Woe.
- Fixed a number of cases where NPCs were silent.
Art & Animation[edit]
General
- Fixed a number of animation and posture issues for various NPCs.
- Fixed many instances of clipping assets and areas where you could get stuck in an asset.
Combat & Gameplay[edit]
Dark Brotherhood
- Blade of Woe
- Fixed an issue where being witnessed while using the Blade of Woe counted as an assault instead of a murder, and applied less bounty than intended as a result.
- Padomaic Sprint
- The Padomaic Sprint tooltips now refer to "Citizens" instead of "Justice NPCs".
- Shadowy Connections
- Remains-Silent, the NPC associated with the Shadowy Connections skill, now has the title of "The Bequeather".
- Remains-Silent is now present in the Anvil Outlaws Refuge, and we've improved the location of this NPC in all other Outlaws Refuges.
- If you have the Shadowy Connections passive, there is now a map pin that points out the location of the associated NPC in each Refuge and the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary.
- Note: This currently shares an icon with Alchemy stations, but expect a new icon in the future.
Monsters
- Antelope in the Gold Coast now flee when you approach them.
- Badgers throughout the Gold Coast now forage for edibles.
- Black and red badgers will no longer spawn in the Gold Coast.
- Lions in the Gold Coast are now named "Lion" instead of "Senche", and now animate properly when they attack.
- Minotaurs throughout the Gold Coast now behave more intelligently outside combat.
- Multicolored Dire Wolves are now less common in the Gold Coast.
- Nixads may now approach you and even mock you in a tiny, garbled voice.
- Nixads will now dodge attacks up to 2 seconds after dodging an attack before they can be hit, down from 10 seconds.
- Nixads that are attacked while walking around will now stop and animate their dodge instead of dodging without animating.
Exploration & Itemization[edit]
Achievements
- Fixed several issues with the way that Blade of Woe achievements were behaving, along with achievements that required you to kill innocent citizens or livestock.
- Gold Coast Cave Delver: Updated the components of this achievement. These were previously swapped, so completing Garlas Agea would give you credit for Hrota Cave, and vice versa.
- Sermonizer Subduer: Updated the description for this achievement to indicate that it requires the completion of the quest “A Lesson in Silence”, instead of “Preaching to a Dark Choir”.
Collectibles
- Updated the Cadaverous Assassin Polymorph with its final icon and text.
Itemization
- Fixed an issue that was causing certain items (such as items in the Sithis' Touch item set) to appear in the Assassins League style instead of the intended Dark Brotherhood style for the following slots:
- Heavy Feet
- Heavy Shoulders
- Heavy Chest
- Heavy Legs
- Light Robe
Justice System[edit]
General
- Guards in Kvatch and Anvil will now carry proper loot, and are now correctly marked as members of the Guard profession.
Quests & Zones[edit]
General
- Player characters entering a Sacrament location that is already alerted will now be better notified of this fact in their quest's hint steps.
Quests
- A Lesson in Silence: Grand Sermonizer Fithia will no longer respawn the entire encounter if you are defeated after engaging her, and will no longer repeat one of her lines when she gets to low health.
- A Special Request: The quest step to poison the wine decanter can now be shared with your group members.
- Dark Revelations:
- Collatinus's body will no longer change names after he dies.
- Added citizens to the upper level of the Enclave.
- The Wrath of Sithis: Removed an extraneous line from your encounter with Green-Venom-Tongue upon arriving in the Chamber of Enduring Flame.
- Filling the Void: Fixed an issue where Primate Artorius's Mass Paralysis spell could remain on you for longer than intended.
- Looming Shadows:
- The map area during the collection step will now better reflect the area.
- Renamed some monsters to make them consistent between the world boss event and the world boss quest.
- Pious Intervention: Removed an unrecorded line from one of Crafty Lerisa's conversations.
Imperial City Fixes & Improvements[edit]
Combat & Gameplay[edit]
General
- The spawn rates for monsters in the Temple District and General Kryozote's wing of the Imperial Sewers will now adjust correctly according to monsters slain (previously, they would always wait the maximum time).
Monster Abilities
- Patrolling Horrors
- Baron Thirsk
- Reduced the amount of health that Blend into Shadows heals Baron Thirsk for to 2% of his health over 5 seconds from 7% over 3 seconds.
- Screeching Matron
- Devour now deals more damage, and no longer heals for the initial hit.
- Baron Thirsk
Exploration & Itemization[edit]
Runeboxes
- Improved the overall functionality of Runeboxes. Now, when you open one, you will skip the Loot window and have the Collectible awarded to you directly.
- This prevents you from being in a strange state where the box is bound to you, but you haven't actually taken the Collectible from it yet.
Base Game Fixes & Improvements[edit]
Audio[edit]
General
- Polished the audio for a number of abilities.
- Polished many locations where the sound and/or music didn't quite fit the space or, in some cases, was missing entirely.
- Improved the audio used by a number of monsters, critters and objects in the world.
- Fixed a number of mismatched or erroneous text/voice-over pairings throughout the game.
Combat & Gameplay[edit]
General
- Made additional improvements to charge abilities (Shield Charge, Critical Charge, etc.) to improve their reliability and responsiveness. This is part of an ongoing effort to improve charge abilities.
Weapon
- Bow
- Draining Shot (Scatter Shot morph): Fixed an issue where Rank 1 of this morph was not displaying its visual effects when the target was disoriented.
- Destruction Staff
- Elemental Susceptibility (Weakness to Elements morph): Fixed an issue where the visual effects were not being refreshed whenever the debuff from this morph was refreshed.
World
- Werewolf
- Pack Leader (Werewolf Transformation morph): Fixed an issue where the dire wolves summoned by this morph were not respawning after they were killed.
Guild
- Undaunted
- Trapping Webs: Fixed an issue where this ability and its morphs were not displaying their visual effects properly, and were not granting the synergy reliably.
Crafting & Economy[edit]
General
- Fixed an issue that was causing scaled resource nodes to occasionally give two kinds of materials. They will now give only the material that matches their appearance.
- For example, you will no longer get Ebonthread from certain Ancestor Silk nodes.
- Note: Enchanting Runestones and Alchemy Reagents were unaffected by this issue, and are unchanged.
- Fixed an issue where resource nodes in battle leveled zones were not correctly scaling to your level and passive rank. Now, half of the nodes will scale their rewards to your true level, and half will scale their rewards to your rank in the associated crafting passive, as intended.
Alchemy
- Fixed an issue that was causing critters to drop Alchemy reagents more often than intended.
- Some dungeons were providing many more oils and reagents than intended; they will now be obtained at a more reasonable rate.
- Drain poisons now apply their effects correctly.
- Drain poisons have been largely converted from major buffs to minor buffs.
- This will prevent them from conflicting with potions, which grant major buffs.
- Note: Speed-Draining Poisons will continue to grant the Major Expedition buff.
- Instant poisons will now apply their effect over a duration instead of instantly.
- The Medicinal Use passive no longer increases the duration of poisons, as this was not the intended behavior.
- Fixed an issue that was causing certain poisons to trigger the potion cooldown.
- Poisons that deal damage over time no longer trigger a flinch animation each time they deal damage.
- Poison tooltips now indicate that they have a 20% chance to apply on any light or heavy attack.
- Increased the cooldowns for poisons to 10 seconds from 1 second.
- Potions of Vitality now correctly have extended durations when crafted with three matching reagents.
- Updated the tooltips for the following potions and poisons to more accurately match their durations and functionality:
- Lingering Health
- Ravage Weapon Critical
- Slow potions with triple matches
- All drain poisons
- Updated the names of several poisons to better match their effects.
- Updated the sell value of poisons from monsters, vendors, and containers throughout the world to ensure that they will always sell for at least one gold.
- Adjusted the effectiveness of poisons obtained from monsters, vendors, and containers throughout the world to ensure they are not as powerful as their crafted counterparts.
- Weapon Power poisons no longer increase both Spell Damage and Weapon Damage, and now increase only Weapon Damage as originally intended.
Craft Bags
- Quests that require you to have certain crafting materials in your inventory will now function when those crafting materials are in your Craft Bag.
- Fixed an issue that was causing the contents of your Craft Bag to be overwritten with an empty Craft Bag when creating a character with a test template.
Provisioning
- Fixed an issue that was causing several types of food to indicate that they lasted for "AB_DURATION", instead of providing the actual duration.
Crown Store[edit]
General
- Fixed an issue where the "Use" option for the Crown Lethal Poison was visible from the inventory UI.
- Adjusted the behavior of the Crown Lethal Poison to bring it in line with other Crown Store offerings.

Exploration & Itemization[edit]
Item Sets
- Fixed an issue where the set bonuses for the new items in the Vicious Ophidian and Infallible Aether sets were switched with one another.
- Black Rose: Reduced the bonus this item set provides to the Constitution Heavy Armor passive to 40% from 50% to account for the recent buff to Constitution.
- Dreugh King Slayer: This item set's 5-piece bonus now passively grants the Major Brutality buff at all times and also grants the Major Expedition buff after a kill, instead of increasing Weapon Damage after killing an enemy.
- Elegance: This item set's 2-piece bonus now grants Spell Damage instead of Weapon Damage. We also increased the Light and Heavy Attack bonus damage from this item set's 5-piece bonus to 20% from 10%.
- Eternal Yokeda: The 3-piece bonus from this item set now grants the Minor Aegis buff instead of turning you into a statue when you die; the 5-piece bonus will turn you into a statue, and grants Ultimate.
- Infallible Aether: The 3-piece bonus from this item set now grants the Minor Slayer buff instead of armor reduction, and the 5-piece bonus causes Heavy Attacks to deal additional damage and apply the Minor Vulnerability debuff to your target.
- Infallible Aether: This item set's 5-piece bonus now applies the Minor Vulnerability debuff to the enemy (increasing their damage taken by 8%), instead of reducing their Physical and Spell Resistance by 5%.
- Shadow Dancer's Raiment: This item set's 3-piece bonus now grants Max Magicka instead of Stamina Recovery, and the 5-piece bonus now grants Stamina Recovery in addition to ignoring the Movement Speed penalty while sneaking.
- Vicecannon of Venom: Fixed an issue where this item set was displaying a hit reaction on the target for every tick of its damage.
- Vicious Ophidian: The 3-piece bonus from this item set now grants the Minor Slayer buff instead of giving reduced stamina costs and movement speed, and the 5-piece bonus now grants the reduced stamina cost, bonus movement speed, and bonus stamina upon killing your target.
